This article describes how to create a new project in Next Field (web.checkd.it) in three steps: filling in project information, inviting team members, and uploading drawings. You'll also learn how to use tags to organize data and which role permissions apply when inviting project participants.
In Next Field, you work in projects. Creating a project is done in three steps:
Fill in the project name, project number, tags, and other relevant information
Invite people to the project
Upload drawings
Create a new project
Log in to web.checkd.it. Once you're logged in, you'll see the project page. From here, create a new project by clicking the New project button in the top right corner of the screen. Then fill in the project name/number, address, tags, and checklist templates if you have access to the checklist module. When you're done, click the Create button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
The project page shows the My Projects tab; note active tasks marked in red.
The Create project page — fill in name, address, tags, and templates before saving.
Tips about tags
We recommend using Tags as a tool. Tags function as keywords or labels that you can add to items when you create them. Tags make it easier for you to search for and group relevant data, and to quickly and easily create reports. Click here to read more about filtering data in a project.
Invite people to the project
Once you've clicked Create, you'll be taken directly to the People tab in the project, and you can now start inviting the people who will work in the project. Here you can invite both your own employees and people outside your organization, such as partners or subcontractors.
Remember to select the correct role before sending the invitation. You can choose between the Normal or Admin role. An admin has full visibility into the project, while a user with the Normal role can only see the items and reports that they create themselves or have assigned to them. Then click the Add people button to send the invitation — shortly after, the people will receive an invitation via email.
Upload drawings
Once you've created the project and invited the people who will work on it, the next step is to add the drawing materials you plan to use in the project. Currently, the file formats PDF, PNG, and JPG are supported, with PDF being recommended.
Click the Add drawings button in the bottom right corner of the screen. This opens a new window where you can drag and drop files to add them, or select files to upload from your computer or cloud storage.
Drawings are sorted in numerical and alphabetical order. You can rename individual drawings by clicking Rename drawing — a function found in the three-dot menu that appears on each uploaded drawing.
