This article describes what you need to do as a Next Project user before and after the migration to a new document solution. You will receive information about important actions before the migration, such as checking in documents, as well as how to handle checked-out files if the migration occurs while they are still open. The article also describes what happens after the migration is complete, including downloading the new software.
This information is only relevant for you if you arrived at this article via a link in a banner in your Next Project.
We will be migrating the document solution for your database. The work will be performed during the times listed below and will result in Next Project downtime at some point during the weekend:
Friday after 4:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM.
Here's what you need to do before the migration
It is important that you check in all your documents by Friday at 3:59 PM at the latest. Files that are not checked in before the migration starts will be automatically marked as checked in by Next. This means that any changes will not be saved in Docs — they will only exist locally on your computer.
We disclaim any responsibility for files that are not checked in on time.
If you have files checked out when the migration occurs
If you have one or more files checked out, there are two options for handling your changes:
- Option 1: Check out the document again and manually update it with the changes from your local version on your computer.
- Option 2: Upload the local document to Next again. You will then be able to choose whether you want to replace the existing file or create a new file.
After the migration
When the migration is complete, we will notify you via a new banner in Next, with a link to instructions for downloading the new Next Docs software. Everyone who is active in Next Docs needs to download the new software in order to manage documents in Next Project.
For general information about the migration and why it is being done, you can read more here.
