This article explains how to create and manage Journal entries in the Next Mobile app, covering the full workflow from initial entry creation to filling in details across multiple tabs. Readers will learn how to add journal notes, record workforce information, register weather conditions, and log used items within a Journal entry.
Create a Journal Entry
- Tap Journal in the bottom menu. (If you don't see it, tap Show more to find it.)
- Select the project you want to write the Journal for.
- Navigate to the correct date.
- Tap the orange plus sign.
- Select a work order.
- The construction day is set automatically. If you need to change it, you can do so from the editing view after the Journal entry has been created.
- Fill in the start and end time.
- Tap Create.
You can also copy a Journal entry from the previous day — you'll be able to choose which information you want to bring across.

Fill in a Journal Entry
Once you've created your Journal entry, you can start filling in the details across the different tabs.
Add a Journal Note
- In the Notes tab, tap the plus sign next to the type of note you want to add.
- Fill in a description (title), write your note, and add any images.
- Choose whether the note should be included in reports and prints. An orange circle means it will be included.
- Tap Create.
You can create multiple notes of the same type.

Add Workforce
To record the workforce for the day, you can either add a new workforce or retrieve one from another day, another project, or a work order. You can have multiple workforces reported on the same Journal entry.
Create a Workforce Entry
- In the Workforce tab, tap the orange plus sign and then tap Workforce.
- Fill in the workforce details.
- Tap Create.
- Your workforce entries will now appear in a list view.
To update or remove a workforce entry, tap the row in the list, make your changes, or tap delete.

Register Weather Conditions
- In the Weather tab, tap the orange plus sign.
- Fill in the current weather conditions and time.
- Tap Create.
- Your weather entry will now appear in a list view.
- To update or delete a weather entry, tap the row in the list.
You can log multiple weather registrations on the same Journal entry.

Register Used Items
- In the Order Lines tab, tap the orange plus sign.
- You can add items from three different views:
- Favorites — Retrieve items from your favorite lists by tapping the current price list at the top, then use the plus and minus buttons to add or remove items. You can report multiple items at once from here.
- Price List — Search for an item from a price list.
- Add — Add a completely new item by filling in the item details.
- Tap Create.
- Your items will now appear in a list view.
- To update or delete an order line, tap the row in the list, make your changes, and tap Save, or tap delete.

Create and Complete Checklists
You can attach multiple checklists to a Journal entry — for example, self-inspections, safety rounds, or similar. Your system administrators can build checklist templates for you to use, or you can create one manually.
Create a Checklist from a Template
- In the Checklist tab, tap the orange plus sign.
- Select a template from the register.
- Tap Create from template.
- The checklist will now appear in list view.
Create Your Own Checklist
- In the Checklist tab, tap the orange plus sign.
- Tap + Add.
- Enter the number and description for the checklist.
- Tap Create — the checklist title will appear at the top.
- Tap the orange plus sign to add a checklist item:
- Add a code and description.
- Indicate whether the item has already been completed and add any comments or feedback.
- Add any images.
- Tap Create.

Fill in a Checklist
- In the list of checklists, tap the one you want to fill in.
- Open the checklist you need to complete.
- Check the box next to any completed items.
- Tap a checklist item to add a note or image.
- Tap Save.

Copy or Delete Multiple Entries at Once
To delete multiple entries at once, go to the relevant tab and entry, then press and hold until the row turns red. You can then select all or several rows to delete or copy.
When copying, you can choose to copy entries to another day or to another project or work order.
