This article describes how to create and manage groups in the Time Rates module in Next Project to control which time roles are displayed to different users when logging time in Next Mobile. You'll learn how the grouping logic works and get step-by-step instructions on how to assign time roles to one or more groups.
In Next Project, you can group your time rates so they only appear for one or more user groups when someone selects a time rate in Next Mobile. If no Group is specified in Time Rates, all users can see that particular role.
How time role grouping works
The logic for how time roles are grouped works as follows:
- When logging time, the time role that is set as the professional role in the user record (Administration - Users/Permissions - Users) is displayed as the default option.
- If a user's default time role in Time Rates has a group assigned, the user will see the time roles included in that group plus any time rates that have no group.
- If a user's default time role in Time Rates has no group assigned, when logging time the user will only see time roles that have no group.
How to create a group of time roles
- Go to the Time Rates module.
- In the Group column, enter a unique value—for example, a letter or number—for each group, and fill it in for all time roles that should belong to that group. If a time rate should belong to multiple groups, separate them with commas. For time rates that should be visible to all employees, leave the group field empty.
Example
In the example below, an employee with the professional role Supervision in the user record will see all roles with grouping A, Overtime All because it has no grouping, and Skilled Worker because it belongs to both grouping A and B.
The time rate register displays available time types; note the Group column on the right.
