This article explains how to use the Document History feature in NEXT Project to track and review changes made to Word documents. It covers the step-by-step process of accessing document history, previewing previous and current versions, and downloading specific versions of a document.
View document history
Document History lets you see a log of changes made to a document — including when the change was made, who made it, and what the document looked like at that point in time. Here's how to use it:
-
Select a Word document from the document structure in NEXT.
-
Click the Check out and edit button.
-
Add your information in the form of text and/or pictures/figures.
-
Save and check in the document.
-
Click the View document history button.
-
The Document history dialog will now show at least two lines — one representing what the document looked like when it was originally uploaded to NEXT, and a second showing what the document looks like after the change you just made.
-
From here, you can choose to:
-
Preview the line representing the original document. This shows the document exactly as it looked when it was first uploaded. You can save this version as a new document.
-
Preview the line representing the most recent change. This shows the document as it looks right now, after the latest edit. You can also save this version as a new document.
-
-
Click Download version for whichever version you'd like to download.
